After hearing about yesterdays tragedy, couldn't help but wonder about all schools installing a system where folks need to be buzzed in. A couple of training centers i attended had that. I would imagine it costs bucks to do that. Do a lot of schools have that system now? Somebody was on the radio saying he talked for years about a buzzer system being installed in the school where the tragedy happened.
But the guy's mother worked at the school, so even with a buzzer system in place, they probably would have let him in if he said he needed to see his mother.
Now they say his mother didn't work at the school and he forced his way in. He argued with the principal and she turned on the PA system so staff could hear the problem. Of course, the thing killed the principal first, probably. Question I have is why did the mother and maybe father have so many guns registered and in the house? Were they scared of the kid? All of this stuff will come out eventuallly I am sure, but it certainly is a bad tragedy that survivors won't soon forget if they ever do. Oh well, we all have to just go on and do the best we can.
the problem with any security security system is that someone will always find a way to evade it. I'm not saying they shouldn't exist; just that they're never absolutely guaranteed. it's sad that this has to be a consideration in an elementary school. Just goes to show you are never completely safe anywhere.
Sure, except that buzzing people in doesn't work. I have seen a few of these. Let me tell you, people can get through it all the time. You just make up an excuse, and march on in. Otherwise, if you get one person to help you, you can simply walk in at any door. The people buzzing people in don't care unless a tragedy has recently occurred. I don't think that will work.
You guys, the buzzing-in system WAS implemented at that school.
But no buzzer will help you when you're intent on breaking into an establishment or an institution. This guy broke in through a window. He wasn't going to stand a chance of getting caught.
This fucking moron must have really hated his mother because he shot her in the face with her own fucking gun! Looks like the whole family was a number in itself. The parents were newly divorced, the mother was remembered in some circles as a sociable woman yet very rigid, especially twoard her kids. The mom actually told her landscaper that she took her kid to the shooting range to helpp him hone his skills. What a pity--she loved her guns, but she ended up being killed by one of them. I would almost have simpathy for the idiot if she hadn't raised a fucking monster.
Something with that family doesn't add up. I'm sorry if I'm judging too harshly, but where are the rest of the family hiding out? I get that they are being protected by police and that they should be, but shouldn't they at least release a public statement to appoligize to the victim's families on the behalf of their brother and son?
The only word from Adam Lanza's brother was via twitter... When police found the assailant with his big brother's ID on him, they wrongly identified him as Ryan Lanza, not Adam Lanza. Well, within an hour, the real Ryan Lanza took to twitter and vehemently denied any wrong-doing. That checked out for him, he really had been at work during the massacre. But he didnt' say anything else. Not a sorry. Not a My brother was a fucking moron. Not a RIP, mom... Nothing.
Oh goodness. Look at me and my ramble. Sorry. I've just been dealing with this--It's hit pretty close to home for me--Literally--I live about twenty minutes away from where this happened and being a brand new parent, it's upset me beyond belief. I can't stop thinking about those poor innoscent little kids...
Anyway, my point is that there was a buzzer system implemented in the school, but the perpetrator who had no business being there in the first place had forced his way inside anyway.
Very true. And what's even more outrageous about this tragedy, although it is off topic in a way, is that the Westborough Baptist Cult (let'sjust tell it like it is here), is implying that god didn't merely condone but orchestrated tis shooting as punishment for America's making strides, however small, towards gay equality. They were saying that Hurricane Sandy was also a punishment and now this. This cult is already infamous for picketing the funerals of gay service men and women killed in the line of duty, and apparently they'll be picketing the funerals of the children and staff killed at Sandy Hook as wel. Methinks it's time for another shooting, the victims being all members and supporters of the Westborough Baptist Cult. And the frustrating part is that good, decent churches that actually deserve to be called such can do nothing about such nutjobs.
just like gated communities won't stop someone determined to commit a crime from doing so, nor will buzzing people in, or any number of other things that are so called ways of doing their best to prevent those things.
Exactly. All you need is a convincing excuse and you can walk right in. And even if they could have had some sort of a thumb print or retina scanning system in place, and that would probably have caused more problems than it would have solved, those systems are no more foolproof than the intercom. The guy could still have been one of the authorized folks who for whatever reason just snapped one day.
